Missionary church-planter (in Japan), pastor, and seminary teacher John Stephen Wright earned his B.A. with honors at Baylor University in Texas, USA; double minoring in Greek/Christianity, and majoring in Oral Communication (1978). He went on to earn a M.Div. in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary(1989).

John has more than 50 years of experience as a Bible teacher and preacher in the USA and Japan, has planted two Japanese-language churches and an international church in Tokyo, pastored another international church in Yokohama, Japan, as well as taught New Testament Greek and other New Testament courses at Tokyo Baptist Theological Seminary from 1991 to 2012. He currently makes his home in the mountains of Nagano and continues his church-planting ministry as a co-pastor of the Karuizawa International Bible Church, while also maintaining his writing ministry.

John is married to Rhonda, another MK (missionary kid) from Japan. They have been blessed with two children and ten grandchildren so far. Rhonda serves with John in ministry.

The Lord Jesus brought John to faith in him at the age of 6. In his Jr. year in college, John discovered the Greek New Testament and began his life-long love of reading and studying the Bible in the original languages.

John began his writing and seminar-teaching ministry in 2007 to equip churches and believers to fulfill the Great Commission by “teaching them to carefully observe everything I have commanded you.” (MT 28.19) A lifetime of immersion in the Greek New Testament and has equipped John to prepare the comprehensive studies of the life and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ that are the core of John’s writing and teaching ministries. John developed these materials over his 50 plus years of church-planting, preaching, teaching, and disciple-making ministry in American and Japan.
